- Open Reason
- If you don't see it, CREATE:Mixer 14:2
- Set Tempo to anything between 80 and 110 BPM
- Create Redrum
- On the Redrum: click on the Folder on Sound 1
- Go To Xclusive Drums Sorted and Select 04_Claps
- After you have chosen a Clap put it on the usual boxes for claps.
- On the Redrum: click on the Folder on Sound 2
- Go to Xclusive Drums Sorted: 01_Bass Drums
- Select a Bass Drum (BD) and put it on the usual boxes for bass drums.
- On the Redrum: click on the Folder on Sound 3
- Go to Xclusive Drums Sorted: 05_HiHats
- Select a HiHat and put it on the usual boxes for a Hi Hat.
- SAVE YOUR BEAT!
- Make a new pattern on PATTERN 2
- Select Sound 1, put the clap on the usual boxes.
- Select Sound 2, put the bass drum on the usual boxes.
- Select Sound 3, put the hi hat on the usual boxes.
- Now, select Pattern 1. Move the "R" on the sequencer to 5. Right Click on The Redrum and Copy Pattern To Track.
- Now, select Pattern 2. Move the "R" to 9 and the "L" to 5. Right Click on The Redrum and Copy Pattern to Track.
- Move the "L" back to 1.
- Click on the Pattern button on the Redrum
- Save your beat in your file as (Your Name) Friday Quiz 3.21
- Now open up mail.ccpaedu.com
- Compose a mail to mrprice@ccpaedu.com
- Add the quiz as an Attachment.
- Send me the email.

Practice for Friday Quiz
Tomorrow we are going to have a quiz on what we've learned about the ReDrum so far. It will be a lot like this lesson!

- Now, select Pattern 1. Move the "R" on the sequencer to 5. Right Click on The Redrum and Copy Pattern To Track.
- Now, select Pattern 2. Move the "R" to 9 and the "L" to 5. Right Click on The Redrum and Copy Pattern to Track.
- Click on the Pattern button on the Redrum
- Save your beat in your file as anything you want!

Busta Rhymes Turn It Up
Today we are going to remake a beat that Busta Rhymes used. We will be loading in our own sounds from the folders at the top of the Redrum, Making Two Patterns, and Copying Them To Track.
- Open Reason
- Make sure you have a Mixer 14:2
- Set Tempo to 102 bpm
- Create Redrum
- In Sound 1 on the Redrum, load Clap (clp_beltram) and put it on 7 and 13.
- In Sound 2 on the Redrum, load Bass Drum (bd_boomer) and put it on 1, 4, 5, and 11.
- In Sound 3 on the Redrum, load Percussion Hi (sh_brat) and put it on boxes 7, 8, 9, 11, and 13.
- Now change your pattern to Pattern 2.
- In Sound 4 on the Redrum, load Snare (sd_optical) and put it on boxes 7 and 13.
- In Sound 5 on the Redrum, load Bass Drum (bd_brassic) and put it on boxes 1, 4, 5, and 11.
- Select Sound 3 on the Redrum and put it on boxes 7, 8, 9, 11, and 13.
- Now, select Pattern 1. Move the "R" on the sequencer to 5. Right Click on The Redrum and Copy Pattern To Track.
- Now, select Pattern 2. Move the "R" to 9 and the "L" to 5. Right Click on The Redrum and Copy Pattern to Track.
- Click on the Pattern button on the Redrum
- Save your beat as "Turn It Up"

How To Copy Pattern To Track
Yesterday we started using drum sounds from the Xclusive drum kit. We will continue that today and also learn how to copy a pattern to track.
- Open Reason
- Make sure you have a Mixer 14:2
- Set Tempo anywhere between 80-110 bpm
- Create Redrum
- In Sound 1 on the Redrum, load a Clap and put it on 5 and 13
- In Sound 2 on the Redrum, load a Bass Drum and put it on 1 , 4, 7, and 11.
- In Sound 3 on the Redrum, load a High Hat and put it anywhere.
- In Sound 4 on the Redrum, load a Percussion Sound and put it anywhere!
- Save Your Beat as Copy Pattern To Track Lesson!
- Now, Right Click on The Redrum and Click on COPY PATTERN TO TRACK.
- You now have the pattern playing on the sequencer so you need to click on the PATTERN button on the Redrum so that they don't play at the same time.
- Save your beat!

- Select BD_Heavy Dub and put it on BOXES 1,4,7,9,11, and 12.
- On the Redrum: click on the Folder on Sound 3
- Go to Xclusive Drums Sorted: 07_Perc-Hi
- Select Tmb_Chemical and put it on BOXES 9 and 13.
- SAVE YOUR BEAT AS Tell Me When To Go
- Now listen to this instrumental of Tell Me When To Go

How To Change The Sounds In Your Redrum Drum Kit
Today we are going to learn how to change the sounds on the Redrum Drum Computer and then we will read and comment on an article about blogs.
- Open Reason
- If you don't see it, CREATE:Mixer 14:2
- Set Tempo to 110 BPM
- CREATE: Redrum
- On the Redrum, click on the FOLDER in the bottom left hand corner.
- From there click on the Reason Factory Sound Bank:Redrum Drum Kits:Abstract Hip Hop: Abstract Kit 1
- Push SELECT on Sound 2 (Sd_SoleSi). Click on Boxes 5 and 13.
- Push SELECT on Sound 5 (Bd_SoleSi). Click on Boxes 1,2,3,7,and 9.
- Push SELECT on Sound 10 (HH3_Soles). Click on Boxes 1, 3, 5, 7, 8, 9, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 and 16.
- Push SELECT on Sound 4 (Rim_Soles). Click on Boxes 5, 13,and 15.
- SAVE YOUR BEAT IN YOUR FILE IN MY DOCUMENTS!!!!!!!
- Now select one of the sounds that you've programmed. Sound 2, 4, 5, OR 10.
- Click on the folder icon for the sound.
- Change the sound to a new sound (you can do this while the beat is playing)
- Change the sound for each sound that you've used (2,4,5, and 10)
- SAVE YOUR SONG!!!!!
- Now Click on Pattern 2 and create your own beat with a Clap or Snare, Bass Drum, Hi Hat, and One other sound.
- Remember! start with a Clap (clp) or Snare (sn) on boxes 5 and 13!
- And put your Bass Drum on 1 and a few other boxes.
- Put your Hi Hat (HH) anywhere.
- Put your Other Sound anywhere.
- SAVE YOUR BEAT!!!!!!!

How To Make a Redrum Drum Beat Part 2
- Open Reason
- If you don't see a mixer: go to the CREATE menu and select a Mixer 14:2
- Set Tempo to 108 bpm
- CREATE: Redrum Drum Machine
- Click on the Folder Icon in the bottom left hand corner of the Redrum.
- From there click on the Reason Factory Sound Bank:Redrum Drum Kits:RnB Kits: RnB Kit 03
- Push SELECT on Sound 2. Click on Boxes 5 and 13
- Push SELECT on Sound 1. Click on Boxes 1, 4, 7 and 11.
- Push SELECT on Sound 3. Click on all the odd number boxes. (1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, 15)
- Now Click on Pattern 2 and create your own beat with a Clap or Snare, Bass Drum, and Hi Hat.
- Remember start with a Clap (clp) or Snare (sn) on 5 and 13
- And put your Bass Drum (bd) on 1 and a few other boxes.
- Put your Hi Hat (HH) anywhere.
- Now let's save the beat.
- Go to the File menu and click SAVE.
- If you already created your folder yesterday, don't worry about steps 17-20.
- When the window pops up, click on My Documents.
- Right Click on the background of My Documents.
- Select New Folder.
- This is where you're going to save your beats, name the folder.
- Name the beat (your name's) first beat.
- Click Save.

- Congratulations! You have made your first beat!
- Now Click on Pattern 2 and create your own beat with a Clap or Snare, Bass Drum, and Hi Hat.
- Remember start with a Clap (clp) or Snare (sn) on 5 and 13
- And put your Bass Drum on 1 and a few other boxes.
- Put your Hi Hat (HH) anywhere.
- Now let's save the beat.
